The official results gave Felipe Calderón, of the PAN, as the winner, against Andrés Manuel López Obrador, of the PRD, by a margin of 0.56%. However, the latter denounced electoral fraud and did not recognize the elections, starting a sit-in in the capital's Zócalo as well as on Madero, Juárez and Paseo Reforma avenues that lasted 3 months.
